FAQs

What is the application process like?

Step 1: Initial Application
Complete a simple application on our platform to begin the process. This helps us quickly identify whether your solution aligns with the needs outlined by our warfighters. If it doesn’t, it’s not a reflection on your work—it’s about matching solutions to the right problems.‍

Step 2: Asynchronous Video Interview
If your application is promising, you’ll receive a request for a one-way video interview. You’ll record answers to questions posed by an AI bot, and our warfighter liaisons and technologists will review your responses. No need to provide sensitive information—this step is focused on understanding your technology and approach.‍‍

Step 3: Phone Interview‍
If selected, you’ll participate in a live phone interview with a member of our team. This is your opportunity to ask questions and better understand the program. It’s less about evaluation and more about ensuring alignment.‍‍

Step 4: Invitation to Bootcamp
Invitations are sent in waves within three weeks of your interview. Accepted applicants will sign a contract committing to participation, protecting intellectual property, and adhering to program guidelines.

What’s the cost?

Nothing. Participation in SigmaBlox is completely free. This includes the application, bootcamp, and mastermind. The U.S. government is sponsoring this program because the priority is finding the best technologies for national security—not making money. You are only asked to commit fully to the program.

What is the Virtual Asynchronous Demo Day?

Once accepted into SigmaBlox, you’ll receive a confidential digital dossier on our portal, accessible to warfighters. This dossier showcases your solution, allowing warfighters to filter and engage with technologies that align with their needs. They can connect with you before the in-person bootcamp or mastermind, ensuring additional opportunities for collaboration beyond the event.

What’s the difference between the Bootcamp and the Mastermind?

Bootcamp
A five-day event with 100 selected teams, designed to prepare you for working with the military. Half the time focuses on education (military requirements, procurement processes), and the other half involves interviews and evaluations by warfighters and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
Includes daily classes, breakout sessions, pitches, and interviews.

Mastermind
A three-day immersive event in Hawaii for the top 20 teams from the bootcamp. You’ll demo your solution to warfighters in one-on-one sessions, group workshops, and interviews, with a focus on direct feedback and engagement. This is where your technology is closely matched to operational needs.

What are the time commitments?

All dates subject to change.

Bootcamp (Mandatory): July 27th - August 3rd. Entrepreneurs are expected to attend for all five days.

Mastermind (If Chosen, You Must Attend One-Of-The-Two Options): If selected, you’ll attend one-of-two scheduled masterminds:

  • Option 1: September 1st - 5th
  • Option 2: September 8th - 12th
  • You must block off both dates in advance to allow for immediate travel planning if chosen.
